Water sports have grown in popularity massively over the last couple of decades. More and more people are going to the water for exercise and entertainment. Of course, there are many places where you can rent wetsuits, but few where you can have them delivered. Jeff Skeoch saw this niche and started his own wetsuit rental business. Recently, he upgraded his website with Booqable’s website builder, making booking easier for customers.
Wetsuits for Hire
In 2011, Jeff, a watersports enthusiast, decided to start his own wetsuit rental business. He saw a trend of people participating in triathlons but not necessarily needing a wetsuit year-round. This gave him the idea to start renting out wetsuits specifically marketed toward this use case. Of course, these events happen across the UK, so it didn’t make sense to set up at a single location, so he began a delivery-focused service.
This idea became a success, and he soon expanded into renting wetsuits and drysuits for other water sports activities like surfing, kayaking, and sailing. Eventually, he offered a full-service surfing rental with surfboards and accessories like swim hoods, boots, gloves, roof racks, and changing robes. This has allowed him to service the needs of water sports enthusiasts across a wide range of activities.
From Drupal to Booqable
Jeff operated his rental business through a Drupal website for many years, which worked well until he needed a more robust system. He could not keep a diarised system for his wet suits and other accessories. So, he began searching for an alternative that would help him achieve this goal and allow him to offer online booking directly to customers. His search led him to Booqable after it had recently expanded its website builder offering with new, customizable themes.
Now, he can keep track of bookings and know exactly what equipment is available and when. The order workflow, which allows him to see who has booked what and when, heavily assists this. In addition, he has created an amazing rental website based on the Vogue template. He was quickly able to customize the website with his brand colors, edit the layout to meet his exact needs and categorize all his equipment to make it easy for customers to navigate.
Meanwhile, he uses the Booqable mobile app to track orders away from his PC. This is particularly useful when packing orders for delivery as he can easily pull them up on his phone and do everything he needs to check out equipment and process the orders. He loves the simple and easy user experience, which has made improving his rental business more efficient.
Reaching for a goal
Now that Jeff has a handle on the aspects of his rental business that were obstructing him from reaching his goals, he can focus on the targets he has set out. He has a number in mind for where he believes he will be happy with the success of Wet Suit for Hire and is working to achieve that goal.
